Castello

With sweeping views across the valley and of the magnificent “Palazzo dei Priori” in the distance this fabulous medieval castle is the ultimate location for your honeymoon.

Secret underground passageways, hidden doors, stone tablets with coded symbols, this residence will take you back in time. Dan Brown fans will love to hear the tales of mystery and intrigue that surround this castle as it had strong links with the Knights Templar. The castle is closely linked to the history of Perugia and records indicate that the Pope stayed here: a stone tablet in the room “Il Cardinale” was made in honour of his visit. The Castle has recently been declared “a Unique National Landmark” by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

Situated at the gateway to Perugia in a quiet location, the Castello is a wonderful base for your honeymoon in Umbria. Yet the bustling historic centre of Perugia, with its beautiful piazzas, amazing Gothic and Medieval architecture, churches, museums, fabulous restaurants and boutique shops is just five minutes away by car. This bustling city hosts a variety of festivals and music concerts throughout the year. In July there is the Umbria Jazz Festival. Chocolate lovers must not miss the Perugia Chocolate Festival in October. Local excursions include Assisi, Lake Trasimeno, Todi, Orvieto and Spoleto which are all within one hours’ drive from the property.

Areas for relaxation include the cosy wood panelled lounges, library, the cloisters, Castle gardens and the restaurant terrace.

Each room in the Castello captures the atmosphere of a medieval Castle. From the “Camera della Etrusca “ with its originl stone walls to the most romantic and unique suite “Delle Dame” situated in one of the turrets with its beautiful frescoed walls. All rooms have bathroom en-suite (some rooms also have a Jacuzzi). The rooms have beamed ceilings, and have terracotta or wooden floors.
