Food & Drink

Italians celebrate weddings with a vast spread of food and plenty of local wine. The happy couple is traditionally toasted with a sparkling Prosecco or an "aperitivo", served with tasty nibbles. The feasting then follows! You can expect to be served a menu such as below:

Antipasti

  • "Bruschette" (grilled bread with tomatoes, garlic and basil)
  • "Prosciutto con melone" (Parma ham and melon)
  • "Verdure grigliate sott'olio" (grilled vegetables preserved in seasoned olive oil)

Primi Piatti

  • "Tagliatelle o lasagna" (pasta either with sauce or filled with meat)
  • "Crespelle con ripieno di spinaci e ricotta" (ricotta and spinach filled crepes)

Secondi Piatti

  • "Filetto di orata alla pescatore" (oven baked sea bass with tomato and garlic)
  • "Agnello al forno" (slow-roasted lamb with rosemary)
  • "Medaglie di vitello al Primitivo" (Medallions of veal in red wine)

Contorni

  • "Verdure di stagioni" (seasonal vegetables)
  • "Gratin di patate al rosmarino" (potato gratin with rosemary)

After dinner, a traditional Italian wedding cake with fresh fruit and cream is served with coffee and liqueurs, such as Nocino (walnut) and Limoncello (lemon) or any other of your choice. The Italian wedding cake is very simple and very different to our traditional tiered fruit cake. You can choose a traditional Italian Wedding cake or a cake particular to your requirements. At hotels we work closely with the chef in the kitchen to design your dream menu. Otherwise, we use top caterers in the region. In either case, your wedding day menu is tailored to your individual requirements.
